Release notes

Changelog

Social Feed Purifier is a private, local-first browser extension for cleaner Facebook, Reddit, and LinkedIn feeds. This page tracks user-visible changes, detection updates, and documentation changes.

Version 1.4.85

Current release line. Build number remains monotonic and is no longer reset when the subversion changes.

LinkedIn manual

LinkedIn feed detection

  • Added LinkedIn support for recommended profile modules labeled "Recommended for you".
  • Added LinkedIn support for job recommendation carousels labeled "Jobs recommended for you".
  • Expanded network-activity matching for headers such as "reposted this", "loves this", "celebrates this", and "supports this".
  • Kept LinkedIn cleanup conservative by default: Promoted posts are enabled, while broader feed cleanup remains opt-in.

LinkedIn media and layout

  • Improved LinkedIn video post detection for native video elements, Video.js shells, video player labels, and video cover images.
  • Expanded hidden post removal to the outer LinkedIn feed item shell so hidden posts do not leave visible empty gaps.
  • Collapsed empty replacement/comment-tool containers that LinkedIn can leave behind after a post is hidden.

Release and documentation

  • Updated the manifest package summary to include Facebook, Reddit, and LinkedIn.
  • Updated the store listing copy for LinkedIn promoted posts, promoted jobs, recommendations, video posts, and right-rail ads.
  • Added standalone website pages for this changelog and the detailed user manual.
  • Added a version helper that can set an exact version and preserves the build segment instead of resetting it to zero.

Chrome package

  • Current extension version: 1.4.85.
  • Package description now says: Privacy-first Facebook, Reddit, and LinkedIn ad blocker for Sponsored posts, Sponsored Reels, Promoted posts, and feed clutter.
  • No remote code, remote AI calls, Facebook APIs, Reddit APIs, or LinkedIn APIs were added.

Version 1.3

  • Added Reddit-specific popup labels, colors, detection rules, and controls.
  • Added opt-in Reddit filters for NSFW, Spoiler, Brand Affiliate, recommended posts, video posts, and outbound-link posts.
  • Improved Reddit rescanning so Scan now performs a full current-page pass.

LinkedIn base support

  • Added LinkedIn Promoted post hiding with LinkedIn-specific popup controls.
  • Added opt-in LinkedIn filters for display/right-rail ads, suggested posts, follow suggestions, promoted jobs, newsletter/event promos, video posts, and external links.

  • Respects the user's recent next or previous Reel direction when it can be inferred.
